System Change – Pump specialist ALLWEILER switches to SAP PLM

Pump manufacturer Allweiler offers standardized pump lines, customer-specific installation sizes, developments and installations for a variety of pumping media, ambient temperatures and assembly environments. In times of ever shorter product lifecycles and more complex products, short development and delivery times become increasingly significant. This requires a deep integration of product development into the other company processes. The existing PDM system was not able to achieve this. Thus, in the course of updating from SAP R/2 to SAP R/3, Allweiler decided to substitute its existing PDM system by SAP PLM. Product development today is continuously integrated into the company-wide information flow with the CAD systems Unigraphics and ME10. In introducing the CAD integration solutions and data migration, Allweiler was supported by DSC Software AG.

“The crucial aspects were the deep integration of our CAD systems Unigraphics and ME10 and the flexible adaptation to our business processes,“ emphasizes Christoph Gutmann. “Our CAD data is no longer held redundantly in two systems. Today, we can quickly retrieve our parts and drawings by using the classification which, in addition, has to be maintained in one system only. The standardized classification also benefits other departments, such as work preparation or purchase.“
