DSC on a digital journey in Switzerland

SAP Forum Basel 2016 on the subject of company digitization: SAP’s Gold Partner DSC demonstrates innovative integration solutions for SAP PLM

The SAP Forum Basel 2016 took place under the motto “Join the Digital Journey” in the Congress Center Basel on March 8/9, 2016. DSC Software AG, an SAP Gold Partner, was there as exhibitor for the first time. A total of 44 SAP partners were present at the forum, answering visitors’ questions and offering them an insight into subject-specific topics. The event was completely booked out, with 1200 registered visitors a day (compared with 1000 last year). The main topics of the forum: S/4 Hana, SAP Hana Database, Big Data, Internet of Things, and Industry 4.0. These were at the center of both the trend-oriented “Business Innovation Day” on March 8 and the practice-oriented “Professionals Day” on March 9. In addition to general presentations on SAP strategy and technical sessions, live scenarios showed how new digitization options can be exploited in the company. The DSC focus lay on integration solutions for SAP PLM. A particular presentation was devoted to SAP Engineering Control Center – SAP ECTR, the integration platform for authoring tools. This enables the central management of MCAD/ECAD, MS Office documents, etc.: uniform and structured, as well as company-wide up-to-date and consistent. There was also an initial impression of Factory Control Center, a solution that supports production companies on the way to the smart factory. A user presentation expanded the theme from the practical point of view: it was made by Ypsomed, the world’s leading medical technology company for injection systems. The title of the presentation: “How Ypsomed digitizes and controls the management of all technical documents”. With the help of practical examples, visitors were shown how SAP ECTR could be used to automatically prepare and manage documents with guided processes – documents from different sources: from CAD systems to desktop publishing software to MS Office applications. Conclusion for DSC: the event offered a lot of room for both interesting and productive talks with customers, prospective customers, and SAP colleagues. Particularly satisfying was the very positive feedback on SAP Engineering Control Center.
