Digitization chances revealed at DSC USER MEETING 2017 in Chicago

Internet of Things Brought to Life

Karlsruhe / Chicago, USA, October 2017 “Let´s shape your digital future together” – the greeting words of the Senior Vice President Business Development of DSC Software AG, on October 24, 2017, to around 60 company representatives in the Aloft Chicago O’Hare Hotel. The Karlsruhe software house had invited them to the DSC USER MEETING 2017 in Chicago under the motto Digital – Simple – Connected. Together with their partners – SAP, CENIT North America, CIDEON America, EPLAN, LeverX, .riess engineering europe, and XPLM Solution – DSC held fascinating presentations, including a trade fair, and really brought the Internet of Things to life.

Simplifying the entry into IoT scenarios

The buzzwords digitization and Internet of Things currently dominate the daily business of many companies. But this digital revolution is also causing a lot of insecurity. With a combination of strategic approaches and practical examples, DSC demonstrated the IoT concept, which is often presented in far too abstract a manner, and pointed out the chances it has to offer. The keynote had already made it clear: IoT doesn’t work without effective Product Lifecycle Management and central data storage.

So: raise the curtain for SAP Engineering Control Center – literally, since what was shown here was the new image film of the solution. With the aid of visual support in stop-motion technique, the visitors soon realized: IoT is already part of our everyday life and anything but complicated.

Bundling big-data applications

“It´s not about things…it’s about people” is how Mark Landrosh, PLM & Visual Enterprise Solution Manager SAP, summarized the IoT concept in his talk “LIVE Engineering – The Next Evolution of PLM”. The IoT portfolio SAP Leonardo focuses on the users and makes it very simple for them to bundle big-data applications and thus implement new business models.

Optimal product data management

The role that SAP Engineering Control Center plays in the IoT context was demonstrated by the talk given by the DSC Vice President of Products & Development. By integrating leading authoring tools from MCAD, ECAD and Software in the SAP system, SAP ECTR creates the ideal basis for SAP Leonardo and all downstream processes. Intelligent mechanisms for releasing, versioning and linking data with business processes provide for constantly consistent data – across all business sectors.

Equipped for a digital future

“IoT is not really that abstract and offers a great potential for my company” – was the way many visitors summed up the DSC USER MEETING 2017. And the Senior Vice President Business Development of DSC was able to confirm this impression: “The participants’ feedback was entirely positive, and many of them hung around after the event to talk to our experts and exchange experiences.” The DSC USER MEETING 2017 has shown yet again: DSC customers are ideally equipped for the future with SAP ECTR.

“Fascination with Integration” True to this motto, the integration experts at DSC Software make the use of SAP software in the technical environment as simple and profitable as never before. With over 30 years of worldwide project experience particularly in the discrete industries, the Karlsruhe company relies not only on a large volume of know-how but above all on strong customer orientation as well as a close partnership with SAP.
