Enthusiasm made in China

DSC lecture on SAP Engineering Control Center greeted by Supply-Chain summit in Shanghai

“SAP Engineering Control Center – A Powerful Tool for Effective Design Collaboration”: that was the title of the Chinese DSC lecture that inspired listeners in Shanghai. These visitors were among the 160 participants of the SAP Extended Supply Chain Summit that took place on July 12, 2016 in the Four Seasons Hotel. Under the motto “Dynamics, Simplicity and Innovation”, the event focused on the “new” digital value-added chain in the area of Industry 4.0, Internet of Things, Big Data and Cloud. For an exchange between experts and colleagues, IT managers and executives of 83 Chinese companies had come to Shanghai.

As a central component of the SAP strategy for Industry 4.0, SAP Engineering Control Center integrates all kinds of authoring tools in SAP PLM. This means that product information from local sources is centrally available in the SAP system and can easily be retrieved and managed using an intuitive SAP cockpit. Thus SAP ECTR not only enables processes to be augmented with any amount of product information all along the value-added chain, e.g., from engineering. The DSC solution also offers an ideal collaboration platform for concurrent and systems engineering. A platform which – apart from document management and 2D/3D viewing – makes multi-CAD handling around MCAD and ECAD simpler and more efficient. And those are just a few of the many benefits that were impressively demonstrated to the listeners to the DSC lecture, which was even in Chinese. The feedback was correspondingly positive.

This was the first time that DSC took part in the SAP Extended Supply Chain Summit in China. It provided a good opportunity to make local contact with existing and potential Chinese customers and to exchange views with colleagues at SAP China. These colleagues welcomed the support of DSC on the SAP-PLM stand and heartily thanked the specialists from Germany for their collaboration. In the light of this event, which was very profitable and interesting for DSC, plans are being made for a repeated participation next year.
