Info day premiere for new ECAD integration of SAP ECTR

First time on the agenda: the new ECAD integration of SAP Engineering Control Center at a PLM info day staged jointly by SAP and DSC

In November, SAP (Switzerland) and DSC Software invited guests to one of the traditional PLM info days, this time in Regensdorf near Zürich. The motto of the info day: “PLM with SAP Engineering Control Center – More Efficiency from Product Development to manufacture”. Here, potential customers were able to get compact information on November 17, 2016, about the countless possibilities and benefits of integrated PLM solutions. There were also live demos showing how integration makes product creation processes more efficient and helps manufacturers to boost their competitiveness. One info day highlight was without doubt the SAP Engineering Control Center interface to ECAD: a solution developed jointly by DSC and XPLM, which has only been on the market since October 2016. Not less fascinating was the rest of the program. An overview of the topics:

  • SAP Engineering Control Center as integration platform and intuitive SAP cockpit
  • Mechanics-CAD integration as with Siemens NX and Solid Edge
  • Electro-/electronics-CAD integration as with Altium Designer
  • Mechatronics engineering with intelligently networked cooperation
  • Document management including change management and viewing
  • CAD-CAM-DNC process chain incl. tool management and production planning
  • Implementation options, available software modules, and recommended courses of action

With this broad range of topics, the info day was able to satisfy the visitors’ most varied interests: whether potential integration newcomers or integration users who wanted information on the expansion possibilities of their existing solution. Among the 17 guests were many who already work with DSC software. In entertaining presentations, the visitors heard and saw how integration solutions work in day-to-day business. And: how procedures can be made simpler, safer, and more efficient – thanks to seamless processes and constantly consistent data from engineering to production. Each of the solutions mentioned was presented on the system, each lecture followed with the greatest attention. The enormous interest was also mirrored in the large number of in-depth questions from the listeners during the presentations. But the breaks too were used to exchange information with other users and the specialists from DSC, SAP and XPLM.

The info day was assessed very positively by the visitors. So it is hardly surprising that nearly all of them stayed for drinks and spent an interesting evening with their hosts and the guest speakers. The latter too drew a positive conclusion to the event: partly due to the pleasant atmosphere and all the interesting conversations, and partly because of the manageable size of the event, which made it possible to deal with the questions and issues of each visitor individually. And – finally – because the guests were extremely satisfied with the info day.
