International SAP Conference on PLM: World meeting in Düsseldorf, Germany

SAP-PLM-integrated Engineering and Multi-CAD Management: interested visitors from three continents at the DSC Software stand

Karlsruhe, November 20, 2014
Product manufacturers from Central Europe, Scandinavia, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and the USA made their way to SAP and partners on November 17-18 for the International SAP Conference on Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). The main emphasis of the event in the InterContinental at the Düsseldorf Kö was SAP PLM. Under the motto “Drive Sustainable Innovation Across Your Full Product Lifecycle”, conferees were able to get information on new and tried-and-tested solutions: in presentations, workshops, and directly from the providers. The small but select group of exhibitors consisted in addition to DSC of the SAP PLM partners CENIT, CIDEON, and .riess, who all had their own stands.

The hit: SAP Engineering Control Center

Both DSC customers and other interested visitors used the conference to pay a visit to the Karlsruhe software company. The customers were very interested in an extension to their existing DSC solution. Most potential customers were keen to see a demonstration of the SAP Engineering Control Center integration platform. Those who had never seen the technology of the Engineering Control Center were very impressed and provided enormously positive feedback. Great interest was also shown for Multi-CAD Management with SAP PLM, which sets new standards thanks to SAP Engineering Control Center. SAP Engineering Control Center is a new integration platform for development teams and systems engineering – as a component of the SAP strategy according to the maxims of Industry 4.0. The SAP price list product is based on the ECTR technology from DSC, which has enjoyed international success for 14 years and has been further developed in recent months. The official launch of the new platform was celebrated by the development partners DSC and SAP just two weeks ago – more here.

The show: SAP Engineering Control Center live – in a double feature

In the early afternoon of the second day, the conferees were able to experience ECTR in practice: firstly in the presentation of Achim Rossel, Business Development at DSC, and then immediately afterwards in a talk by Luigi Bertolli, IT Engineering Manager at the DSC customer Mikron, a worldwide leading manufacturer of production and automation solutions.

Rossel’s presentation was titled “Accelerating Innovation: How Engineering Control Center (ECTR) Simplifies and Streamlines Product Development in SAP PLM”. The speaker showed how easily and efficiently SAP Engineering Control Center can be used to manage all product-related data and processes – thanks also to its intuitive user interface. He also used examples to demonstrate the high-performance integration of authoring tools for MCAD, ECAD, CAM, simulation and software. Under the title “Engineering Control Center – From Go-Live to Break Even”, Bertolli then spoke about the ECTR rollout at Mikron: from challenges and data migration to user feedback and knowledge gained to successes achieved.

Conclusion: a valuable event, not least due to the international audience

The conference closed with an altogether positive result for DSC. The integration specialists were able to add to their worldwide business contacts and initiate various new projects. There were also interesting new approaches in networking with SAP and partners.
