Six-pack for product manufacturers – SAP ECTR inclusive

How easily manufacturers can flex their muscles was shown by DSC with SAP ECTR: at the “International SAP Conferences” of T.A. Cook, which this year took place in a six-pack – for the first time

On November 3/4, 2016, DSC presented the integration platform SAP Engineering Control Center in Den Haag (Netherlands) – at the 6th “International SAP Conference on Product Lifecycle Management” organized by T.A. Cook, one of six “International SAP Conferences on Extended Supply Chain and IoT”, which took place simultaneously this year for the first time in the same place. The topics according to the conference program: Supply Chain Management, Product Lifecycle Management, Portfolio and Project Management, Manufacturing, Asset Management, Environment, Health and Safety Management. Almost all of these are areas in which product manufacturers can use SAP ECTR to demonstrate their considerable strengths. For on the basis of this product, all kinds of tools can be connected seamlessly to the SAP system: whether technical software or Office applications, whether local or cloud-based. Product data can be efficiently managed and made usable company-wide; also, processes can be consistently interleaved and automated, as well as augmented with product data under workflow control.

Great interest in SAP Engineering Control Center

Many conference participants came to the DSC stand for information about possible applications and benefits of SAP ECTR. They were particularly impressed by the intuitive ECTR cockpit and could hardly believe how easy the SAP system was to use with its help. And even for requirements beyond engineering and CAD, many visitors could imagine using ECTR as a useful support. Besides the busy activity at the stand, the ECTR presentations on the second day of the conference were very well attended:

  • “ECTR From Go Live to Break Even – Implementing SAP Engineering Control Center (ECTR) at Mikron Group”: Mikron, an international company for solutions in manufacture and automation, reported on its own introduction of ECTR with NX integration. The lecture showed how design and logistics are seamlessly connected. It also used performance figures to concretize the achieved time-saving and productivity gains in engineering.
  • “From Product Development to Production Planning and Service – Seamless Data Management Using the SAP Engineering Control Center Integration Tool”: This lecture was part of the Microforum program and was presented by DSC in the “Partner Theatre No. 1”. Listeners received first-hand information on integrated product data and document management. They also learned about the related chances and advantages for their day-to-day business.

Positive summary for the Karlsruhe software company

All in all, SAP ECTR was very popular with visitors, and DSC could look back on two very successful days after the conference – all the more gratifying that DSC had supported the event as a Premium Sponsor, together with SAP Digital Business Services. From DSC’s point of view, particular mention must be made of the professional organization by T.A. Cook. Among other things, this promoter had designed the agenda and trade exhibition in such a way that the 450 participants could get all the information they needed without any hectic rush. And DSC itself had the opportunity to make new contacts and exchange views with companies in other sectors.
