Karlsruhe, May 29, 2015

The official start of the rollout of SAP Engineering Control Center was announced at the SAPPHIRE NOW + ASUG Annual Conference 2015. According to the announcement from SAP Strategy in 2014, the product successfully passed through the six-month ramp-up phase – right up to the final release on April 7, 2015. At the world’s leading SAP user conference from 5 to 7 May, the SAP Engineering Control Center solution was presented live several times in the USA: as an important module in the SAP PLM context and component of SAP’s “Run simple” strategy.

“Run simple” – this year’s success motto
„Run simple.“ This was the motto that the joint event of SAP and ASUG (Americas’ SAP Users’ Group) used to draw more than 20,000 visitors from all over the world to Florida – to the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando. DSC too was yet again a center of attraction, with even more visitors that in the record year 2014. At the stand they shared with CENIT and CIDEON, the Karlsruhe specialists made many promising new contacts. They also exploited the on-site presence for a dialog with their international customers as well as for networking with strategic partners. The conclusion of the DSC team: “An impressive and very successful event. Our expectations were greatly exceeded.“

SAP Engineering Control Center as top seller
As expected, the new PLM integration SAP Engineering Control Center was highly rated by the visitors. And not only the DSC stand put on one presentation after the other. The organizer too presented the new integration platform repeatedly: as part of the “Demo Theater Presentations”, micro-forums, and lectures such as “Simplify the Way Engineers Work by Integrating Authoring Tools” or “Develop Innovative, New Products for the Internet of Things”. Thus interested parties could see with their own eyes how authoring tools can be connected to the SAP-PLM system: simply, intelligently, and profitably.

Potential customers, users, and suppliers around a single table
The “Special Interest Group” of the ASUG sent out invitations to the “PDM/PLM Round Table”. As a result, existing customers met on May 6, together with leading experts from the areas of product data management and product lifecycle management. Here too, DSC was well represented: on the one hand by DSC Director Joachim Röder, who talked about the scope of features, the benefits, and the future of SAP Engineering Control Center; and on the other by the round-table chairman Steve Parker from Kennametal, a long-established DSC customer, who contributed accounts of practical experience. As the lively discussion showed, this concept was a good way of shedding light on questions about PDM and PLM from many different perspectives.
