„We make Engineers want SAP”
This DSC slogan at the Siemens PLM Connection fair attracted many visitors to the stand of the Karlsruhe integration specialists.
Karlsruhe, November 2, 2015
From October 26–28, 2015, Berlin’s Estrel Convention Center was the scene of the Siemens PLM Connection 2015 (Europe) fair, organized by the PLM User Group. Around 900 visitors used the opportunity to get information on solutions for Siemens PLM. One of the exhibitor was DSC Software – under the motto “We make Engineers want SAP”. Particularly in the PLM and NX context, this was very popular with the visitors of the event.
Continuous data and processes from engineering to production
The DSC team demonstrated solutions such as SAP Engineering Control Center, SAP Engineering Control Center interface to NX, and Factory Control Center. The focus was on continuity in product creation process and this was demonstrated with practical solutions. For example, with SAP Engineering Control Center – SAP ECTR, which integrates all kinds of authoring tools in SAP PLM. Or with the SAP Engineering Control Center interface to NX for a direct link between the CAD/CAM software and the SAP system. Or with Factory Control Center – FCTR: this integrates CAM, work preparation and production planning in the SAP-based product creation process and links shop-floor systems as well as CNC machines. It also enables companies to manage their tool library in the SAP system. With these solutions, engineering data and production-relevant information can be managed together and intelligently linked in an IT system – for continuous, efficient, and secure CAD-CAM-DNC processes.
As so often in the past, the DSC slogan “We make Engineers want SAP” was confirmed yet again this year. What particularly appealed to visitors to the stand was the intuitive software operation. For example, the R&D cockpit of SAP ECTR – specially developed for engineers, designers, and technical staff – makes the handling SAP PLM completely simple.
Needs-oriented product visualization for all company divisions
Another big topic was the cross-sectional product visualization in the PLM context. The SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer integrated in SAP ECTR offers companies many possible facilities. Engineering profits from an accelerated assembly display with dynamic coupling between image display and structural view as well as from comprehensive viewing functions. Other divisions profit from the many output options of the viewer, by means of which visualization data can be used in many different ways: e.g., for technical documentation, assembly, maintenance, and training; or for marketing, procurement, and sales. Thanks to the available neutral formats, users can incidentally view models and drawings without a CAD system. To top it all, visualization data in the SAP system can easily be merged and linked to other business information.
Positive event result
The event was a great success for DSC. There were many intriguing talks with participating customers and exhibiting partners.
