DSC and ILC cooperate on the integration of ⁴PEP in SAP ECTR

Joint customers from various industries had expressed their keen interest in the integration of ⁴PEP and SAP ECTR: Their design teams used to work on the same data, but in two separate applications with different user interfaces. This makes their daily work significantly more complicated. As customer feedback has always been a great influence on the product strategies of DSC and ILC, this was an important factor for the decision to collaborate. In this project, ILC develops the interface from ⁴PEP to SAP ECTR, and DSC contributes their know-how as an integration specialist.

Initially, ILC’s focus is on the integration of the ⁴PEP modules Product Structure and Variant Management, as well as Engineering Change Management. Apart from using SAP master data and transactional data, it is planned to integrate the ILC objects Item, Variants, and Matrices for product structure management and variant management. Furthermore, both the workflows implemented with the ⁴PEP Process Engine and the object Tasks shall be available for use in SAP ECTR in the context of engineering change management.

The goal of integrating ⁴PEP in SAP ECTR is to enable joint customers to use processes, structures, and objects of ⁴PEP in the SAP ECTR user interface. The handling of structures and data objects perfectly aligns with the SAP ECTR user experience.

ILC will provide the integration for SAP S/4HANA. This allows customers that are currently in a transformation project to SAP S/4HANA to integrate their tried and tested ⁴PEP modules into the SAP ECTR user interface. Therefore, they will gain increased consistency and productivity in product development.

Dr. Oliver Quirmbach, CEO of ILC GmbH, sums up the benefits: “With the SAP ECTR integration, design engineering teams can directly access the ⁴PEP data and functions. Additionally, we enable the creation of configurable 3D models for the CAD systems integrated in SAP ECTR. This way, it is possible to generate digital twins for configured variants on demand.”
