DSC webcast unveils exciting new features in release SAP ECTR 1.2 for SAP S/4HANA

DSC webcast unveils exciting new features in release SAP ECTR 1.2 for SAP S/4HANA

On September 26, 2023, the webcast by DSC Software AG in collaboration with SAP presented the newest developments and innovations for SAP Engineering Control Center | SAP ECTR. The virtual event true to the motto “Boosting your ERP-near PLM processes” attracted participants from all over the world and provided a holistic insight on the new release SAP ECTR 1.2 for SAP S/4HANA.

The event, presented in German and in English, was very well received. In total, both sessions had over 500 registrations.

The presenters Gerhard Himmelsbach, Product Owner SAP ECTR at SAP SE, Dominik Maier, SVP Products and Development, and Achim Rossel, SVP Business Development, both at DSC Software AG, showed impressive facts and figures for the new release.

SAP ECTR 1.2 encompasses 36 new features, 80 improvements, as well as solutions for over 30 improvement suggestions submitted via SAP Customer Influence. These numbers present SAP ECTR as a solution which is continuously developed and improved, and therefore well prepared for the future.

The presenters divided the new functions of SAP ECTR 1.2 for SAP S/4HANA into two main categories:

News on engineering processes

This category focuses on improved usability and increased efficiency. SAP increasingly bets on user-friendly solutions for supporting engineers and product developers with their daily work. Among others, this covers a new logic for determining the complexity of assemblies, the creation of equipment structures, or a new function for copying characteristic values.

Enhancement of ERP-near PLM functionality

With SAP ECTR, SAP follows an integrative PLM approach that goes beyond plain document management and allows true end-to-end processes. The new functions encompass a deep integration of the change record in SAP ECTR, the editing of the bill of material directly in SAP ECTR, as well as the display of plants relevant for a specific material. These novelties contribute to increased transparency and time saving for users.

Participants voiced many questions in both sessions and most of them were answered right away. Gerhard Himmelsbach, Achim Rossel, and Dominik Maier succeeded in presenting the new features vividly with many software demos.

At the end of the webcast, the participants gained detailed insight on the road map for SAP ECTR. The road map did not only show the time frame of the release plan, but also its thematic focus. On one hand, the development teams are working at high pressure on a deep integration between SAP ECTR and SAP EPD for offering additional hybrid solution approaches. On the other hand, the enhancement of ERP-near PLM functions that enable true end-to-end processes is promoted.

All things considered, the DSC webcast was a great success and proved once again the commitment of the SAP and DSC development teams. The goal is to provide solutions that meet the customers’ needs and lead the product development to a bright future.
