SAP ECTR FORUM 2019 – Hitting the Ground Running Towards the Future

The SAP ECTR FORUM 2019 by DSC Software AG premiered on October 15 and 16, 2019, with the active participation of 19 DSC partners and 13 external speakers in the futuristic spaces of the Print Media Academy in Heidelberg. At the event, more than 500 participants from all over the world started their journey BACK TO THE DIGITAL FUTURE. The event’s focus was on setting the course for the digital future of tomorrow – based on SAP Engineering Control Center, SAP’s strategic integration platform for SAP PLM.

>500 Participants | 19 Partners | 13 External Speakers

The SAP ECTR FORUM 2019 replaces the DSC Anwendertreffen after a successful time of nearly 20 years – with even more DSC partners and an increase in participants of 70% in comparison to 2017. The event is now open for customers and interested parties from the constantly growing network of partners.

At the Theme Expo – the exhibition by partners and DSC – the event’s participants had the chance to learn more about subject-specific solutions and exchange views with the experts, across the four theme-based floors.

Science Fiction Becomes Reality

According to the motto BACK TO THE DIGITAL FUTURE, the DSC moderator team addressed in their Takeoff presentation that what once sounded like science fiction is now step by step becoming the technology standard of the future, as for example IoT, Machine Learning, and Predictive Analytics. What is the current state of affairs and where will the journey take us? Keynotes by customers, SAP, and DSC provided answers to these questions: requirements and possibilities of the digital transformation, product news and portfolio roadmaps by SAP and DSC, as well as already realized solutions.

The Digital Future – From a Practical Perspective, Interactive and as a Live Experience

Best practice presentations showed how companies of various industries set their course for the future with SAP PLM:

  • with a digital supply chain from sales to manufacturing, including a seamless chain from CAD over CAM to DNC
  • with the change from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA
  • with web-based technologies such as IoT for competitive differentiation
  • with integrated tool management and the integration of warehouse lifts and tool presetters at the shop floor
  • with digital twins that enable a 3D navigation within ERP modules for manufacturing, maintenance, etc.
  • with a cross-location design and worldwide, flexible manufacturing of products with a single source of truth

… and everything in one system – SAP!

With the Cloud to Digital Excellence

In the afternoon of event day two, the cloud came to the fore. Two presentations by SAP illustrated the enormous potential of the cloud and presented new solutions for the collaborative engineering of smart products and for the intelligent asset management in digitally-connected enterprises. At the same time, two workshops by DSC enlarged upon cloud-based CAD systems and the question of how product lifecycle management could be enhanced online. DSC works on exciting solutions together with customers and partners, ensuring that users will be able to hit the ground running to the future in the cloud with maximum simplicity.
